Newsletter Term 3 – week 9

It’s Finally Happening!

Hello again everyone,

I am pleased to announce that Manteena Pty Ltd, a local construction company located in Fairy Meadow, has been awarded the contract for the construction of our new hall, covered way and canteen.

Construction is due to commence around 24/25 September 2009 with the set-up of temporary fencing, site shed and amenities (site establishment).

Please note that there will be increased truck movement around the school in particular along Royal Crescent during the construction phase which is expected to continue until June 2010.

As you can imagine, there will be a great deal of activity in this area with trucks picking up and dropping off materials so it would be greatly appreciated if parents could avoid parking in the area directly adjacent to the construction site access points, particularly along Royal Crescent near the existing netball courts.

While there will be the inevitable inconveniences, the hall and other facilities will be a wonderful addition to our school. If you would like to know more about the project or see the final plans, please feel free to talk with me any morning or ring to make an appointment on 42841472.

Enjoy your week.

Sharyn Liddle  (Principal)

For all the details please see Michelle’s report below.

Fundraising Trivia Night

The Fundraising Team would like to send out a big thanks to the families and friends of our school who came along and supported our trivia night on Saturday night.  The night was a great success thanks to your generous support and raised in excess of $4,000!!  We would also like to send out a big thanks to our wonderful markers who did a fantastic job.  A reminder to those who had the winning silent auction bids that your prize can be paid for and picked up from the office.  Congratulations to our raffle winners – 3rd Prize Margi Gormly, 2nd Prize Charles, 1st Prize Lisa Davidson. Margi & Lisa, your prizes will also be available from the office.  Once again thank to everyone who came along and made our night a fabulous success.

Assembly This Thursday

Come along and see what Kinder have in store when they perform at this week’s assembly. It’s wild! Assembly starts at 9:15 and everyone is welcome.

Creep Crawlies

Once again, these annoying pests are in our school looking for clean hair in which to make a home. Unfortunately they are encouraged by the recent warm and humid weather conditions. Please check your child’s hair carefully each day while lice are about and if you find any, please treat them promptly. Information is available from the school office. Tying up long hair, using gel or hairspray and spraying inside hats with teatree oil or similar preparations available at the chemist may also help deter infection. If we are all on the lookout and we act quickly at the first sign of a problem we can work together to help to solve this frustrating problem.

Early Arrivers

There are an increasing number of students in the playground prior to the 8:30am bell. Please be aware that there is no supervision of students prior to 8:30 and that the school cannot take responsibility for problems which may occur before this time. Any student arriving before 8:30 must sit on the seats under the COLA until Mrs Liddle arrives for duty.

Principal’s Morning Tea

Invitations will go out this week for Term 3 Principal’s Morning Tea which will be held on Wednesday 30th September. Thank you in advance to Mrs Joel and her band of helpers who always provide a ‘feast’ for our award winners. Please let Mrs Liddle know in advance if your child has any food intolerances.

Year 2 Special Swimming Program Reminder.

Please don’t forget that this program starts on the first day back in Term 4, so all permission notes and money needs to be returned well before the end of this term. The cost is $60 which covers bus fare for the ten days of the program and pool entry.

WEPS COOKBOOK

Have you been looking through your favourite recipes?  Can’t decide on which recipe to submit for our cookbook – then submit a few!!!!!

Come on, lets all become involved in this exciting and delicious WEPS Cookbook.  It would be fantastic if every family could put in at least one of their favourite recipes.

You can drop them off to the uniform shop on Monday, Wednesday or Friday mornings or you can send them to Renee at caitlin1@aapt.net.au

Remember to have the children decorate/illustrate on an A4 sheet of paper, include your family name and children names with the recipe.  Also, you can submit a name for our cookbook – the name selected will win an exciting prize.  If you have any queries, please call Renee 0431 458 798.
