Newsletter Week 10 Term 4 2008
• Our Presentation Assembly last Thursday went very well. The weather was kind and not too many glitches occurred. Congratulations to all students whose achievements were noted on the day. A list of award winners is in this week’s newsletter.
• The clock ticks down for Year 6. They were farewelled by the school last Thursday. They had their farewell evening on Friday. Most of them have gone off for camp for three days starting today. High school beckons! All the best Year 6 for future years from everyone here at Woonona East. Please come back and visit us.
• Industrial action is planned for Wednesday 28th January and Thursday 29th January. At this stage that means students in Year 1 to 6 will start the 2009 school year on Friday 30th January and Kindergarten students will begin on Monday 2nd February. This information is correct as of today. We will update this if and when more information comes to hand. Kindergarten students will be notified of starting times by letter during the holidays.
• Mrs Marilyn Forsyth is taking leave at the end of this year, leading to retirement in 2009. I would like to thank Marilyn for the contributions she has made to public education throughout her career and wish her a happy retirement.
• This is my last newsletter after being Principal for the last 14 months. I would like to thank all students, parents and staff who have made running the school a pleasure throughout this time. Merry Christmas and have a great break.
