Classes for 2009
At present we are planning for 2009. If you have a concern about the class your child will go into next year, please put this in writing and forward it to the school. We will consider all such issues in forming classes. Alternatively, you can speak to me about concerns you may have. In general we will endeavour not to place your child with the teacher they had this year.
Live Life Well at School
This school is ready. Is your child ready to …
LIVE outside the BOX
Students at our school have been invited to participate in a fun challenge called Live Outside the Box. This challenge is a chance for everyone to learn about aspects of our daily lives that can help us all maintain a healthy, active lifestyle. Live Outside the Box aims to promote practical ideas for including more daily physical activity, reducing sedentary behaviours such as watching TV and developing healthy eating and drinking habits. Over two weeks students will be recording the following details into their Live Outside the Box paswsports:
• their healthy breakfasts.
• how much water they drink.
• how much fruit and vegetables they eat.
• how much time they spend being active.
• how much time they spend watching TV/computers.
• the amount of ‘sometimes’ foods they are eating.
Once your child completes the passport each day, we ask that you sign it off to show that it’s accurate. Your child may also bring home a few ‘Activity Sheets’, which are designed to be a fun learning experience for your child and your family. We hope you enjoy these activities. All students receive a certificate at the end of the two-week (Gold, Silver or Bronze) depending on the amount of points they accumulate over the two-weeks. For more information see www.healthykids.nsw.gov.au/
We hope you enjoy Living Outside the Box!

Kids Café
This week every day special Salad Box, with chicken or ham $1.50. Watermelon wedges 30c. Potato Smileys 30c. Breakfast is for Every Body. Children need energy to walk to school, work in class and for activities such as reading. This energy comes from breakfast foods such as cereals, milk, fruit, bread, baked beans, low fat yogurt, eggs and vegemite toast. It’s important that children fill up on the right type of fuel for their bodies. Studies have shown that children who eat breakfast have increased concentration, are less irritable, and perform better in memory tests! If some days are rushed for time, pack a banana, muffin or some toast, that may be eaten on the way to school or at Before School Care. Great Kids Recipe Aussie Beef Burgers, Ingredients: 400g lean minced beef, 1 onion, 1 carrot (grated), 2 tablespoons of breadcrumbs, 1 egg (lightly beaten). Method: combine beef, vegetables, breadcrumbs and egg in a bowl. Using wet hands, shape mixture into burgers. Cook burgers in a non-stick frying pan until browned. Bread rolls, lowfat cheese, tomato and lettuce for serving. Thank you to Maree, Johanne and Cindy for their great work on Friday with the pasta and salad special day. Kids Café will be closed MONDAYS in term 4 and open Fridays.
