Newsletter Week 2 Term 4 2008
• Our Living Well at School fitness program kicked off today. All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 “got active”. Some were dancing, some did exercise circuits while others played fast and furious games. The fitness program will happen 3 times a week and it will be a case of drop everything and get out in the playground and get active.
• At present we are planning for 2009. If you have a concern about the class your child will go into next year, please put this in writing and forward it to the school. We will consider all such issues in forming classes. Alternatively, you can speak to me about concerns you may have. In general we will endeavour not to place your child with the teacher they had this year.
• Thank you P&C! The P&C have decided to fund a performance for students as a way of saying thank you to the school community for supporting their fundraising efforts. We have booked Steve’s Unique Puppets for the 19th November. The performance will be “Peer Power”. Steve came out earlier in the year and the show, “Bully For You”, was very much enjoyed.

Live Life Well at School
This school is ready. Is your child ready to …
LIVE outside the BOX
Students at our school have been invited to participate in a fun challenge called Live Outside the Box. This challenge is a chance for everyone to learn about aspects of our daily lives that can help us all maintain a healthy, active lifestyle. Live Outside the Box aims to promote practical ideas for including more daily physical activity, reducing sedentary behaviours such as watching TV and developing healthy eating and drinking habits. Over two weeks students will be recording the following details into their Live Outside the Box paswsports:
• their healthy breakfasts.
• how much water they drink.
• how much fruit and vegetables they eat.
• how much time they spend being active.
• how much time they spend watching TV/computers.
• the amount of ‘sometimes’ foods they are eating.
Once your child completes the passport each day, we ask that you sign it off to show that it’s accurate. Your child may also bring home a few ‘Activity Sheets’, which are designed to be a fun learning experience for your child and your family. We hope you enjoy these activities. All students receive a certificate at the end of the two-week (Gold, Silver or Bronze) depending on the amount of points they accumulate over the two-weeks. For more information see www.healthykids.nsw.gov.au/
We hope you enjoy Living Outside the Box!

Back To School Allowance – 2009
The collection of data from schools will begin at the end of October to facilitate the payment of the Back-To-School-Allowance for 2009.
The $50 Back-To-School-Allowance for every child attending school in NSW will be paid by the Department of Education and Training and is designed to help families meet some of the costs of getting their children back to school at the start of the 2009 school year.
To enable the payment to be made schools have been asked to provide details of family and student names and addresses. The Department proposes to forward the $50 allowance from mid-January 2009 for students in Years 1 to 10 in 2009 and from mid–February 2009 for students in Kindergarten and Years 11 and 12 in 2009.
The allowance will be paid to the nominated parent or custodial guardian.
It is important that you notify the school office as soon as possible if you have changed your address or family details in the past year.
