LIVE outside the BOX
Students at our school have been invited to participate in a fun challenge called Live Outside the Box. This challenge is a chance for everyone to learn about aspects of our daily lives that can help us all maintain a healthy, active lifestyle. Over two weeks students will be recording the following details into their Live Outside the Box paswsports:

Once your child completes the passport each day, we ask that you sign it off to show that it’s accurate. Your child may also bring home a few ‘Activity Sheets’, which are designed to be a fun learning experience for your child and your family. We hope you enjoy these activities. All students receive a certificate at the end of the two-week (Gold, Silver or Bronze) depending on the amount of points they accumulate over the two-weeks. Children need energy to walk to school, work in class and for activities such as reading. This energy comes from breakfast foods such as cereals, milk, fruit, bread, baked beans, low fat yogurt, eggs and vegemite toast. It’s important that children fill up on the right type of fuel for their bodies. Studies have shown that children who eat breakfast have increased concentration, are less irritable, and perform better in memory tests! If some days are rushed for time, pack a banana, muffin or some toast, that may be eaten on the way to school or at Before School Care. Great Kids Recipe Aussie Beef Burgers, Ingredients: 400g lean minced beef, 1 onion, 1 carrot (grated), 2 tablespoons of breadcrumbs, 1 egg (lightly beaten). Live Life Well at School
Welcome to our Term 4 Live Life Well School Initiative.
Over the last two terms Mrs D’Arcangelo, Mrs Carter and Mrs Harris-Cross have been meeting with co-ordinators of this scheme and exploring ways of introducing it to our school. It is a twelve-month program.
During this term, our first stage will involve distributing fact sheets from the NSW Health Department in our weekly newsletters which contain thought provoking information for us all. The topics will be about setting the scene for a healthier lifestyle for all our children.
Also during this term the whole school will be commencing a physical activities session three days a week. The whole school will join in dance, circuit and games each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. All activities will involve “huff and puff”.
As all children will be expected to participate a written note will be required if your child cannot take part.
During weeks two and three “Live Outside the Box” will run. This program will provide all children with a “passport” for the two-week challenge. It is a chance for everyone to learn about aspects of our daily lives that can help us maintain a healthy active lifestyle.
As this is a whole school program “Live Outside the Box” will replace other forms of homework during the challenge. Take time to read through this passport with your child and help them complete the challenge.
The passports will go home during week one and teachers will give plenty of information to their classes.
“Live Outside the Box” will be repeated in Term 3 next year.
This is an exciting new program for our school and we hope that you will support and encourage your child to participate.
Mrs D’Arcangelo
