• Congratulations to Riley, Jack, Samantha, Isabella, Tegan and Narran who will be receiving their Principal’s Award at this week’s K-6 assembly.
• Thank you to Baines Concrete who donated the cement and poured the slab for our chook pen. We’ll be looking to install the chook “tenants” in Term 4.
• Next week we have Steve’s Unique Puppets performing at the school. They will be doing “Bully For You”. The cost will be $2 per child.
• Congratulations to Mariah who came 2nd in the State Championships for Contemporary Dance on the weekend.

PSSA Round 5 (last round)
Thank you to everyone who got into the spirit and participated in our Numeracy week activities. We had a lot of fun and hopefully, some people could see that maths can be fun.
Congratulations to 1B who were the closest to guessing how long the ice would take to melt. It actually took 21 hours and 50 minutes. 1B guessed 24 hours.
In the Guess My Weight competition the jar weighed 1225g or 1.225kg. Well done, Drew who got the closest with his guess of 1001g or 1.001kg.
In the Guess My Number competition there were 315 lollies. Lucky Kane guessed 316 the closest to the answer.
Our activities raised $67.80 so The Maths Team will now look at buying a new piece of equipment or game to add to our Maths resources.
Thanks again for the support,
Ms Pechey and the Maths Team.

More children to be congratulated! These children also have achieved a 100% attendance record and have been recognised with a certificate.

Southern Stars
This Thursday the Southern Stars group will be performing their “Bad Medley” and finale dance at the whole school assembly. Parents are most welcome to attend. Another big thank you to Ali, Pat and Rosie-Ann for their assistance in making our costumes! They looked excellent! The children really appreciated your hard work.
Special Swimming Scheme
In weeks 4 and 5 next term, WEPS will be involved in the Intensive Swimming Program. This will be held at Corrimal heated pool, with daily 45 minute lessons conducted by qualified swimming instructors. In the past this program has been an enjoyable and highly successful experience for all the children involved. It is strongly recommended that all Year 2 students take advantage of this opportunity if possible. The Intensive Swimming Program is offered to all children in Year 2. If places are available they may then be offered to children in Years 3 and 4. Notes and further information will be sent home shortly. Mrs Lindley.
SRC News
The Bilby is a nocturnal marsupial with large ears and belongs to the Bandicoot family. Bilbies eat seeds, insects, spiders, bulbs, fruit and fungi. Bilbies now only exist in Northern Western Australia, Northern Territory and far Southwest Queensland. This is due to predators like foxes and cats and competition with rabbits. The Save the Bilby Fund is now one of the largest community conservation projects in Australia. National Bilby Day is being held on Sunday 14 September. To help save the Bilby, the SRC will be selling items on Friday 12 September. Temporary tattoos $1.00 each, Bilby clutch pins $2.00 each, Dangle Legs Magnetic Bilby $5.00 each. So come on and bring your money to help save this wonderful native animal. For more information go to

Sugar and Tooth Decay – Sticky foods that cling to children’s teeth and foods that are high in sugar contribute with tooth decay. Highly refined sugar foods are often high in fat as well, and eating more of these types of foods will leave less room in the stomach for healthier foods such as breads, pasta, rice, potatoes, milk and cereals. Carbohydrates such as, pasta, rice, potatoes and vegetables and natural sugars from fruit and vegetables are healthy sugars of energy. “NO Added Sugar” on the food label meams that no extra sugar has been added during the manufacturing process. It does not mean that the food is low in sugar, the food may still be high in natural sugars (such as 100% juice). Kids Café Summer menu will go out in week 10 newsletter.
