•    Reports will go home this Wednesday. If your child’s teacher would like to arrange an interview, this will be indicated on the report and a note will accompany the report listing interview times. Phone interviews can be requested. If the teacher does not request an interview and you would like to arrange a phone or face to face interview this can be done by requesting an interview slip from the class teacher or contacting the school to arrange a suitable time.

P&C NITBUSTERS Weekend 28-29 June

Sick of getting that note from your class teacher?

The WEPS P&C have discussed nits, and the Schools’ approach to managing them, at the last few P&C meetings.  Advice from NSW Health suggests that the best way to eradicate (or at least reduce) the instance of nits is for whole school community participate in a NITBUSTERS program.  NITBUSTERS is a joint project between NSW Health, NSW Department of Education & Training, Federation of School Councils and the Federation of P & C Associations. The project aims to educate schools, children and parents about head lice and how to remove them.  More information on the NITBUSTERS program is available at
http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/headlice/nitbusters/parent_info.html

The P&C would like everyone in the school community to participate in nit treatment over the weekend of 28-29 June. Inserted in this week’s newsletter is the recommended treatment from NSW Health.

Nit treatment is a cheap, quick and effective.  The treatment process involves putting conditioner into the person’s hair and then thoroughly combing with a fine tooth comb.  It takes about 5 minutes.  See http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/headlice/treatment/index.html for details of this simple treatment method.  Participation in this program is voluntary but it will only be successful if everyone participates.

With good participation in the NITBUSTERS weekend, hopefully we will reduce the instance of nits at school and the numbers of that note going home.  The P&C looks forward to your participation in the program and we would welcome any feedback on this program (the P&C comments book is in the school office).  If results are good, we may run NITBUSTER weekends during the course of the school year.

Happy combing.

Kindergarten 2009
If you know of any parents who are looking to enrol their children at Woonona East for 2009, could you please ask them to contact our office. We would like to be able to plan ahead for next year and the more information we have the better job we can do.

Disco and Barbeque

This will be a fun night to celebrate the end of the term. Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year2’s disco will run from 4pm to 5.30pm. Years 3 to 6 will be from 6pm to 7.30pm. Entry will be from Corinda Road only. Disco entry will be $2 to be paid at the door. Cost of the BBQ will be $1.00. Cold drinks and snacks will be available.
Voluntary School Fees
Parents are invited to contribute the voluntary school fees for 2008.
One child $25.00; two or more children $50.00.
All funds donated will be allocated directly to the school library for the purchase of children’s books. It would be appreciated if these fees could be paid by the end of this term to help our library budget.

Correct Payee names on Cheques
Parents please be aware that any payments to the P&C (such as for the Krispy Kreme drive), it is important to have the correct payee on the cheques.  The banks, at least the Commonwealth, have lately been strict about correct information on cheques.  Unless the correct payee is shown on the cheques, they will not deposit them into the account.
Could you please therefore assist us by making out any cheques to the P&C as “Woonona East P&C Assoc” or “WEPS P&C”.  For items bought in the uniform shop, the cheques should be made out to “Woonona East uniform Shop”, or WEPS uniform shop”.  Thank you.
